Stewardship Saturday: NE Ainsworth Habitat Corridor Project

Saturday, February 8th, 2020 from 10:00am to 1:00pm (PT)

About

Join Columbia Slough Watershed Council, Bureau of Environmental Services, Portland Bureau of Transportation, Audubon Society of Portland and Wisdom of the Elders as we come together to install a native habitat corridor on NE Ainsworth. This pilot project seeks to improve and beautify the right-of-way along NE Ainsworth starting at Alberta Park and moving east towards Fernhill Park.

We’ll be planting native shrubs, rushes, and grasses in the medians on NE Ainsworth to create habitat for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. This project is funded by the City of Portland’s Neighborhood to River program.

This event takes place rain or shine! Please dress for the weather and wear long sleeves, long pants, and close-toed shoes. We will provide training, tools, gloves, snacks, and hot drinks. Meet on the north side of Alberta Park. Parking is available on side streets adjacent to the park.

Parents should be aware that work will take place in medians, adjacent to roadways. This park has an ADA accessible restroom and paved pathways, but work will take place on soft, uneven ground. Please reach out to rachel.walsh@columbiaslough.org with site accessibility questions.

Tri-Met #8 to NE 15th and Ainsworth: Walk east on Ainsworth St 5 blocks to Alberta Park and look for the event on the north side of the park.

Tri-Met #17 to 27th and Ainsworth: Walk west on Ainsworth St 5 blocks to Alberta Park and look for the event on the north side of the park.

Parking: Available on NE 19th and 22nd Ave.
